Mohegan has promoted Kristi Hanney to the position of Vice President, Deputy General Counsel. In this newly appointed role, Hanney will play a crucial part in managing and executing the functions of Mohegan’s Legal Department, contributing to strategic legal and operational endeavors throughout the company’s diverse portfolio.

She will also be in charge of entity management, compliance, and contract negotiations across the organization. This role encompasses oversight of legal operations, litigation, finance-related projects, as well as budgeting and administrative tasks. Additionally, she will lead corporate governance initiatives throughout Mohegan’s operations and provide assistance in the overall administration of the Legal Department.

Hanney has been with Mohegan since 2022, serving as Senior Corporate Counsel. During this time, she has been involved in pivotal transactions and initiatives, such as enhancing the company’s balance sheet for 2025, facilitating the sale of the Connecticut Sun, and restructuring Mohegan’s digital ventures. Additionally, she has contributed to corporate governance, finance, compliance, and international issues throughout her tenure.

Prior to her time at Mohegan, Hanney operated her own legal practice, the Law Office of Kristi A. Hanney, LLC, which is based in Connecticut. Earlier in her career, she was a partner at Louden Caisse Hanney, LLC and garnered experience at several law firms in the state.

Hanney has received multiple accolades, including acknowledgment as a Connecticut Super Lawyer and the Lawyer of the Year Award. She earned her Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the College of the Holy Cross.
