Las Vegas’ Treasure Island has stopped its $200 free slot play promotion earlier after an overwhelming response led to long lines and chaos on the casino floor.

The promotion, initially set to run through Sept. 7, launched on Monday and was available every Monday through Wednesday to new and existing loyalty club members.

“Due to overwhelming response, the offer reached its planned capacity earlier than anticipated,” said a casino spokesperson.

The promotion gained momentum quickly after being promoted by Treasure Island through emails, app notifications, and mailers. By Tuesday, the redemption line spanned multiple areas of the casino floor, with limited kiosk capacity delaying the process. Some guests reported waiting up to six hours to redeem the offer, while others left without claiming the free play.

The promotion mandated players to wager the full $200 in a single gambling session. Its popularity was heightened by the availability to new loyalty club members, with numerous guests reportedly signing up for the casino’s rewards program to qualify.

The early termination occurred following industry observers in Vegas predicting the promotion’s potential overwhelm by demand. “By the end of the week, I expect it to be canceled,” stated Shawn Coomer, co-host of the Miles to Memories Vegas podcast. He cited long lines and the scale of the offer as reasons for his prediction.

Treasure Island has not disclosed the quantity of redemptions or new loyalty club signups generated by the promotion.

Following the conclusion of the promotion, Treasure Island officials emphasized their intention to continue rolling out new, high-value promotions designed to provide an enjoyable, lively, and guest-centered experience.
