Gemini Space Station (NASDAQ: GEMI), the digital currency brokerage owned by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, has entered into a partnership with Apex Fintech Solutions to capitalize on cryptocurrency event contracts.

As part of this partnership, Gemini will be the exclusive listing platform for cryptocurrency event contracts distributed by Apex’s Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) to its brokerage customers. The financial details of the collaboration were not disclosed. Gemini obtained a Designated Contract Market (DCM) license from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) in December, enabling it to enter the prediction market sector.
“Under the alliance, brokerages offering crypto event contracts through Apex’s FCM will use Gemini for execution and clearing – positioning Gemini as the regulated venue for crypto-based predictions markets accessed through Apex. In addition to crypto, Gemini has the flexibility to collaborate on various contract categories like sports, economics, and financial markets, on a non-exclusive basis,” stated the companies.
Apex and Gemini have previously collaborated, with Gemini introducing zero-commission equity trades for selected U.S. clients last month, where a unit of Apex served as the clearing broker and custodian for those transactions.
Significance of Apex, Gemini Partnership
Amid the increasing popularity of prediction markets, the partnership between Apex and Gemini holds significance. The crypto sector is rapidly growing, and the demand for event contracts related to cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum is on the rise. This collaboration is expected to introduce new traders to the cryptocurrency universe and create long-term adopters and investors in the process.
Partners of Apex
Apex’s partnership with renowned consumer-facing brokerage firms such as Public.com, Stash, and Webull make it an interesting event contract partner for Gemini. These brokerage firms cater to millennial and Gen Z investors, many of whom are already involved in cryptocurrency investing and show interest in yes/no exchanges.
Webull, another partner of Apex, provides its clients access to event contracts through a collaboration with another prediction market operator.
