The PGA Tour has suspended PGA Tour Champions player Matt Gogel for six months after placing multiple bets on golf events in 2024 and 2025.

The Tour announced the suspension on Wednesday, stating the wagers violated its integrity program, which forbids betting on PGA Tour events and other professional golf competitions.

The specific tournaments on which Gogel placed bets were not disclosed by the Tour, and none of the bets were related to events in which Gogel participated.

Gogel, aged 55, will be barred from competing in Tour-sanctioned events for six months and can return in late February.

“In 2024 and 2025, I unintentionally violated the PGA Tour policy by making small recreational bets on golf,” Gogel stated in response. “I want to clarify that these bets were not placed on regular PGA Tour events, PGA Tour Champions events, or any tournament in which I was involved.”

Gogel’s PGA Tour win was at the 2002 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am tournament. He also achieved a 12th place finish at the US Open in 2001, marking his best performance in a major championship.

While he has been a regular on the PGA Tour Champions in recent years, Gogel has yet to secure a victory on the senior circuit. He demonstrated consistent performance by not missing a cut during the previous season and finishing as the runner-up at the ISPS HANDA Senior Open in July.
