The Biloxi Planning Commission has approved the request from a casino developer to rezone three parcels of land at US 90/Beach Boulevard and Veterans Avenue, advancing the development of the Black Marlin Casino.

The Biloxi Planning Commission has given the green light to rezone three properties across from the Big Play Entertainment Center to pave the way for the Black Marlin Casino. This development is a joint effort between RW Development and Encompass Develop Design and Construct.

The Black Marlin Casino project includes a 300-room hotel, dining options, meeting space, 668 parking spaces, a 43,800 square foot casino with 1,100 slot machines, 24 table games, and a sportsbook. Additionally, a $1 million handicap-accessible pier named Veterans Avenue Pier is part of the proposal.

With the approval from the Planning Commission, the project can now move forward to the Biloxi City Council for further evaluation. If all necessary approvals are obtained, the Black Marlin Casino would become the ninth casino in Biloxi and the 13th in South Mississippi.

Market Competition

The Black Marlin Casino would add to the already existing casinos in Biloxi and South Mississippi. There are also plans for additional casino developments in the region, including projects at the sites of the former Tivoli Hotel and the proposed Tullis Gardens Hotel & Casino.
