LeBron James partners with Polymarket, becoming the first NBA player to do so, joining other athletes in the prediction market industry.
The NBA champion announced the partnership ahead of the 2026-27 season, revealing the collaboration through a video posted on his X account.
James, a legend in the Philadelphia 76ers, shared the news with a video showing him exiting an elevator labeled “sports.” The elevator also featured floors for politics, crypto, economy, culture, weather, esports, and technology.
“Welcome to Polymarket HQ. Coming soon,” James captioned the video. “In partnership with Polymarket.”
Polymarket responded to the post with, “Thanks for swinging by our HQ,” followed by a goat emoji.

A Polymarket spokesman told The Athletic on Saturday about the unique partnership, with more details to be announced on Tuesday.
“With football season approaching, we anticipate leveraging James’ passion for the sport and exploring ways to expand Polymarket’s reach,” the spokesman stated.
Polymarket boasts being the world’s biggest prediction market, allowing users to trade on future event outcomes. One market on the platform speculates on James playing with his son, Bronny, in the upcoming season.
This agreement comes at a time when prediction market operators are enhancing their relationships with athletes. DeChambeau signed with Kalshi earlier this year, marking the platform’s first athlete endorsement according to Front Office Sports.
Antetokounmpo announced his partnership with Kalshi in February, becoming the first NBA player to invest directly in the company. Also in June, Messi and the Argentina national soccer team partnered with Kalshi.
Polymarket has collaborated with tennis star Maria Sharapova, who showcased the platform by trading on the app during a live tennis match.
