A man from Florida is filing a lawsuit against Wynn Las Vegas, alleging that he got infected with Legionnaires’ disease while staying at the resort on the Strip earlier this year.
The lawsuit brought by Ruben Feliciano accuses the property of negligence in protecting guests from exposure to the bacteria. Filed on August 25, 2026 in Clark County District Court, the lawsuit seeks over $30,000 in damages for medical expenses and long-term physical harm.
Legionnaires’ disease is a serious type of pneumonia caused by breathing in water droplets contaminated with Legionella bacteria.
In April 2026, the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) reported that two cases of Legionnaires’ disease were associated with stays at Wynn Las Vegas — one in September 2025 and another in February 2026. Both individuals recovered, as per the agency.
It is not clear if Feliciano’s case is separate from the one reported in February.
According to his claim, Feliciano fell ill during his visit to Wynn in January 2026. His health deteriorated after returning home, leading to hospitalization from January 22-25. The lawsuit states that Feliciano was later informed that he may have been exposed to Legionella during his stay — a fact that he alleges was already suspected.
Feliciano states that he sustained “significant and permanent injuries” that continue to affect his work and recreational activities. The lawsuit argues that Wynn did not properly maintain its water systems, failed to warn guests of potential exposure, and allowed conditions that led to his illness.
Wynn Resorts has stated that they do not comment on ongoing legal matters as part of their policy.
Health District Investigation
Testing carried out by SNHD found Legionella in multiple samples taken from Wynn Las Vegas. The resort subsequently took remedial action on its water systems, notified guests of potential exposure, and initiated continuous follow-up testing.
Health authorities reported that recent samples from the affected areas showed no detectable bacteria and mentioned that Wynn was cooperating with the investigation.
