The Chaotic Legal Battle Between Carrot Top and His Accused Extortionist

The entertainer accused of trying to extort Carrot Top sent a video to the Luxor headliner’s former legal team in May 2024, stating that their legal dispute was escalating. The video does not contain threats of releasing explicit content or demands for money from Brian Evans.

The 90-second video, released by Page Six on September 24, has become a central piece of evidence in an ongoing court battle in Florida, which Carrot Top’s attorneys claim has been a persistent issue for years.

Evans states in the video, “At some point, things are no longer about settling, okay?” In the footage, he talks about his legal experience and the consequences of their ongoing dispute.

Evans, who performed two shows with Carrot Top in 2014 and 2015, claims to have expertise in legal matters and promotion, leaving the resolution of the situation in the hands of Carrot Top and his legal team.

Significance of the Video

Carrot Top’s lawyers argue that the video is crucial due to subsequent emails, a Broward County report, and a police incident.

The report, dated September 3, 2026, was filed by the Lake Mary Police Department in Florida. According to Thompson’s attorney Ronnie Bitman, Evans allegedly possessed explicit video content of Carrot Top and demanded $500,000 to prevent its release to the media.

The incident was categorized as “information only—extortion of client,” with no direct criminal charges filed against Evans, as Thompson was not present at the time of the report.

Additionally, a Broward County filing by Bitman detailed Evans’s demands for monetary compensation and threats of releasing explicit content to the public. These claims are still under investigation.

Correspondence included in the filing illustrates a fluctuating negotiation process. Evans initially sought $1.925 million, which later increased to $8 million, and eventually settled at $530,000. Despite these demands, Evans disavowed any intention to engage in extortion.

Debunking the Extortion Allegations

Evans refutes the accusation of extortion against Thompson, claiming that the $500,000 note was part of confidential settlement discussions that were resolved in 2024 with the deletion of the video content.

He has since filed a lawsuit in Broward County, filed on August 6, 2026, attempting to overturn the settlement due to alleged psychological trauma suffered from the aftermath of the 2023 Maui wildfires. Evans also claims that Thompson sent him unsolicited explicit material, although this claim remains unsubstantiated.

Following Thompson’s hospitalization on September 18 in Las Vegas due to a suicide attempt, his legal team appealed to the court to vet Evans’s future filings to prevent the disclosure of private matters. There is no conclusive evidence linking Evans to Thompson’s suicide attempt.

Judges have reprimanded Evans in previous court cases for filing frivolous claims, resulting in restrictions on future filings without prior consent. The ongoing lawsuit in Broward County presents a challenge, but Thompson’s health is reportedly improving.
