- The doughnut shop at Graton Resort & Casino features a $275 doughnut.
- High-priced menu items in casinos have not always been successful.
Graton Resort & Casino has proudly launched the second phase of its billion-dollar growth.

This expansion features a premier smoke-free gaming section with 2,000 slot machines, an exclusive high-limit lounge, a cutting-edge poker room, and an engaging sports bar equipped with expansive screens.
The highlight of the expansion is AYA, a $40 million rooftop dining experience led by award-winning chef Roy Ellamar, where guests are welcomed through a stunning “barrel-vaulted wine tunnel” to enjoy a farm-to-table menu sourced from the tribe’s 40-acre farm.
While gaming and top-tier dining are anticipated draws, a surprising treat has managed to capture attention—the extravagant fried dough item.
Millionaire’s Doughnut
SoCo Dough Co. is the latest casual dining addition at Graton Resort & Casino.
This doughnut shop specializes in “fluffy, warm handcrafted donuts, sweet delights, and signature beverages.” SoCo also boasts what may be the most expensive doughnut in the nation.
The Millionaire’s Doughnut is crafted with chocolate hazelnut filling, hazelnut crémeux, edible gold leaf, chocolate crisp, chocolate ganache, and a one-ounce serving of Louis XIII cognac, priced at $275.
Standard doughnut prices at SoCo range from $4 for The Classic (vanilla buttermilk glaze) to $6.50 for Dubai of My Life (Sicilian pistachio glaze with dark and milk chocolate drizzle, topped with shredded filo). The Millionaire’s Doughnut costs approximately 45 times more than a standard doughnut.
Is the price justified? Surprisingly, while gold flakes are not costly, the main reason for the high price is the one-ounce pour of Remy Martin’s Louis XIII cognac.
Total Wine & More lists a 700 ml bottle of Louis XIII at $3,799.99, which totals around $4,141.99 after taxes, averaging $180 per ounce.
Thus, regarding the extravagant Millionaire’s Doughnut, its markup may not be as steep as initially presumed.
The Downside of Gimmicky Menu Items
SoCo is not alone in trying to gain attention with a high-priced dish, but many restaurants have faced challenges once the initial buzz fades.
- Le Burger Brasserie at Paris Las Vegas previously served a $777 burger with Kobe beef, pancetta, goat cheese, and seared foie gras, accompanied by a lobster tail and Dom Pérignon Champagne; it closed in 2022.
- Fleur at Mandalay Bay once offered a $5,000 burger featuring foie gras and truffles paired with a bottle of 1990 Château Pétrus wine, ultimately closing in 2023.
- Serendipity from Caesars Palace opened in April 2009 but shuttered by the end of 2016; it was renowned for its $1,000 sundae made famous in a 2001 romantic comedy.
The Golden Opulence Sundae featured Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream adorned with 23-karat edible gold leaf, fine Italian chocolate, gold-covered almonds, marzipan cherries, and was served with a solid 18-karat gold spoon.
