The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario is implementing updates to the Registrar’s Standards for Internet Gaming as the iGaming Ontario’s Centralized Self-Exclusion (CSE) program approaches its launch date.

Anticipated Launch of CSE in Early 2026

The CSE initiative will be managed by iGO, allowing players in Ontario to voluntarily self-exclude from all regulated online gaming platforms in the province through a simplified process.

Casino.org contacted iGaming Ontario for an update regarding the launch schedule of the CSE program but has not yet received a response.

Joseph Hillier, the President and CEO of iGaming Ontario, previously informed Casino.org that the CSE program is set to launch in the first half of 2026.

Centralized Solution for Gamers

This week, the AGCO stated that it had revised the verbiage in Requirement 12 of the new CSE standards (2.14.1) in response to industry feedback, making it easier to comprehend.

The aim is to ensure that individuals who opt for central self-exclusion cannot access gaming sites, even in cases of service interruptions. The AGCO emphasized that safeguarding self-excluded players is a key priority, despite the operational status of the system.

Under Ontario regulations, each licensed online gaming operator is mandated to provide a self-exclusion option for players, as stated under Standard 2.14. The new CSE will consolidate the self-exclusion process, reducing the need for players to self-exclude across numerous platforms.

CSE Initiative Long Overdue

All licensed operators are also required to actively participate in the CSE system, promoting it on their websites and clearly defining the term lengths for self-exclusion—options will include six-month, one-year, and five-year terms.

The launch of the CSE Program has been awaited since August 2024, after iGaming Ontario awarded the contract to a partnership between Integrity Compliance 360 (IC360) and IXUP to create the system. According to a previous statement from iGaming Ontario, IC360 brings technology-driven expertise in betting integrity with initiatives like ProhiBet, while IXUP has demonstrated success with its BetStop system in Australia.
