Regulatory Framework for iGaming in Alberta

The AGLC is responsible for registration, compliance measures, standards, oversight, and enforcement for both operators and suppliers.

The Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) oversees the management and conduct of these operations.

The identified 43 operators have successfully navigated the registration process and paid their initial fees to the AGLC. These operators are required to pay a one-time application fee of $50,000 and an annual fee of $150,000 per facility.

Operators are still required to complete a two-step process with the AiGC.

Private operators are gearing up to compete against Play Alberta, the state-sponsored platform, with Alberta adopting an 80/20 revenue split favoring the operators, after dedicating 3% to First Nations and social responsibility programs.

On May 28, Caesars Entertainment announced that residents of Alberta aged 21 and older can now download and register for offerings like Caesars Palace Online Casino, Caesars Sportsbook & Casino, and Horseshoe Online Casino.

Delta Enters the Market

Delta iGaming confirmed its registration with the AGLC on May 28, as part of the expansion of the Delta Bingo & Gaming brand, which has a history spanning over 60 years.

“We are excited to introduce the Delta Casino experience to players in Alberta,” remarked Jason Karklins, Vice President of iGaming at Delta Casino.
