The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), an advocacy group for Muslim civil rights, announced on Tuesday its filing of federal Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Nevada Public Records Act requests. The goal is to obtain a complete public record of how Tom Artiom Alexandrovich— a senior official from the Israeli government arrested on allegations of child exploitation— was permitted to exit the United States post-arrest in Las Vegas earlier this month.

“This incident exposes a shocking breakdown of our justice system,” stated CAIR in a press release. “While U.S. authorities are detaining immigrants, revoking visas, and deporting individuals for merely opposing U.S. complicity in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, here we have an Israeli official accused of trying to exploit a minor— and he walks free.”

Alexandrovich, who leads the technological defense division of the Israel National Cyber Directorate, was arrested alongside seven others during a sting operation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department that targeted online child predators. Police reports indicate he intended to meet a 15-year-old girl for sexual contact, though he asserts he believed she was 18.

Documents reviewed by KLAS-TV/Las Vegas reveal that Alexandrovich arrived at the predetermined location with a condom and intended to start the evening by taking the minor to a Cirque du Soleil show.

At 38 years old, Alexandrovich was charged with felony luring of a minor via computer for sexual purposes. Despite the serious nature of the charges and his status as a foreign national without diplomatic immunity, he was granted bail, allowed to keep his passport, and permitted to return to Israel.

Urgent Call for Extradition

CAIR is urging U.S. and Nevada authorities to push for Alexandrovich’s immediate extradition to face charges in the United States.

“No one should get a ‘get out of jail free’ card, especially foreign officials charged with serious felonies,” the statement added. “The American public deserves transparency. We must prioritize the welfare of children, uphold justice, and ensure that no one is considered above the law.”

In a statement from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office, it was claimed that Alexandrovich was not detained, contrary to the police’s assertions.

“A government employee, who traveled to the U.S. on official business, was subjected to questioning by American authorities during his stay,” the statement emphasized. “This employee, lacking a diplomatic visa, was not arrested and returned to Israel as planned.”
