Arizona sportsbooks shattered the state record for sports betting volume in October, reaching a remarkable $967.1 million, eclipsing the previous high of $897.6 million established in November 2024, as reported by the Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) on Tuesday.
Sportsbooks held onto 8.6% of the total handle, resulting in $83 million in gross gaming revenue, just $3.3 million shy of the November 2024 milestone. Operators distributed $30.4 million in free bets, leading to a taxable revenue of $51.6 million, which produced $5.2 million in state taxes.
Since the launch of sports betting in Arizona on September 9, 2021, residents have gambled a total of $29.65 billion, with $7.34 billion of that occurring in 2025 alone. Overall sportsbook revenue for the first ten months of 2025 tallied up to $665.7 million.
This latest data positions Arizona sixth nationwide for October betting volume, narrowly trailing Pennsylvania by $1.4 million. October was already a record month across the U.S. for sports wagering, though November is expected to break this record once all states finalize their totals.
Several other states reporting their results for November, including Indiana, Ohio, and New York, have already recorded new highs for both handle and revenue. Experts predict Arizona could experience its first month surpassing $1 billion in handle and potentially exceed $100 million in revenue when November’s figures are tallied. To date, only New York, New Jersey, Nevada, Illinois, and Ohio have reached the $1 billion mark in a single month.
FanDuel reclaimed its position as the leader in handle for October with $317.1 million, outpacing DraftKings’ $293.7 million. However, in terms of revenue, the standings reversed, with DraftKings claiming $28.8 million compared to FanDuel’s $26.2 million, following FanDuel’s lead in September.
BetMGM secured the third spot for handle, followed by Fanatics and Bet365, all maintaining their respective ranks in revenue as well.
