The Oakland Athletics are not postponing their debut in Las Vegas until April 2028. They have arranged for consecutive series at Las Vegas Ballpark, which is the venue for their minor-league affiliate, the Las Vegas Aviators, within this current season.

The team will welcome the Milwaukee Brewers from June 8-10, followed by the Colorado Rockies from June 12-14, per Major League Baseball’s newly released schedule for 2026.

This move symbolizes a significant step towards establishing their permanent location on the Las Vegas Strip, despite funding arrangements for this project being largely unconfirmed.

The A’s aim to have their new stadium operational in time for the 2028 season.

Las Vegas Ballpark, situated in the Summerlin suburb, had been considered as a temporary option for some time. However, team owner John Fisher chose to utilize Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento exclusively until their new stadium is completed.

This represents a nostalgic return for the A’s, who began the 1996 regular season with six games at Cashman Field while the Oakland Coliseum was undergoing renovations.

The future stadium for the Oakland Athletics is progressively taking form. The anticipated 33,000-seat facility has transitioned into the vertical construction phase, moving from mere speculation to a tangible project.

The site, encompassing nine acres of the area left vacant after the Tropicana’s demolition in 2024, has seen significant activity since the ceremonial groundbreaking in June. Recent weeks have witnessed workers advancing past foundational work, now engaged in pouring concrete and installing rebar on the southern and southeastern sections of the footprint.

Construction is overseen by the Mortenson-McCarthy joint venture, responsible for Allegiant Stadium as well. The budget for the stadium has escalated to $2 billion, an increase from the initial estimates of $1.5 billion and subsequently $1.75 billion.

Upon completion, this stadium will represent a significant change in Las Vegas’s legacy, transitioning from the classic Rat Pack era to a new age of sports-centric entertainment.
