The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for Atlantic City from 1 PM Sunday until 6 PM Monday, describing the storm as “potentially historic” with total snow accumulations projected between 15 to 24 inches. If the storm shifts even slightly to the west, these totals may increase.

Wind gusts could reach up to 60 MPH, resulting in dangerous whiteout conditions.

Travel conditions may become extremely hazardous to impossible, with widespread blowing snow significantly impairing visibility. The adverse weather is expected to impact both morning and evening commutes on Monday. Powerful winds may also lead to tree damage and scattered power outages,” cautioned the NWS.

As travel advisories are issued across the Garden State and into Philadelphia, millions will take refuge to wait out the storm. For avid gamblers, there might be no better place to stay than one of the nine casinos along the New Jersey shore.

Emergency Declaration in Atlantic City

Mayor Marty Small has announced a State of Emergency in Atlantic City, which prohibits parking on designated snow emergency routes.

The New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority has provided free parking at the Wave Parking Garage (located at Mississippi and Fairmount Avenues) as well as at the Showboat Hotel on the Boardwalk.

These complimentary parking options are intended to assist residents and visitors in complying with parking restrictions along important snow emergency routes, encompassing Atlantic Ave., Martin Luther King Blvd., Ohio Ave., Indiana Ave., Melrose Ave., Arctic Ave., Fairmount Ave., and Baltic Ave. Vehicles parked in these areas after 4 PM today may be subject to towing.

Casinos to Remain Open

Built to withstand fierce weather, Atlantic City’s casinos are prepared to remain open throughout the anticipated snowfall from Sunday to Monday, with gaming and several resort operations continuing as usual.

The idea of being snowed in at a casino resort is particularly appealing for many gamblers. If you’re considering a snowy escape at one of the nine Atlantic City casinos, local authorities recommend checking in now for stays through at least Tuesday.

As per Atlantic City’s announcement on X, residents and visitors should “stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary” starting Sunday afternoon.

Room rates for Sunday through Tuesday are quite affordable.

Ocean Casino Resort is priced at $135 per night, Borgata’s MGM Tower is available for $119, and Hard Rock is at $113. Caesars costs $155, Resorts at $108, Golden Nugget at $81, Tropicana at $71, and Harrah’s and Bally’s are both $70.

These rates include resort fees but are exclusive of taxes.
