Bally’s Atlantic City recently made the decision to restrict access to parts of its resort to guests under the age of 21. The casino’s indoor pool and fitness center are now exclusively available to adults aged 21 and older. This change was implemented after numerous complaints regarding disruptive behavior from children and teens, ultimately resulting in a less enjoyable experience for other guests.
This update is part of Bally’s ongoing $100 million renovation. The resort is enhancing its amenities with a new hotel lobby, a unique carousel bar that rotates 360 degrees, a high-limit gaming room, an indoor/outdoor beer garden, and the addition of over 400 state-of-the-art slot machines to the main gaming space. The renovation project also includes renovating all 750 standard guest rooms, introducing 112 corner suites and 16 penthouse-style accommodations. Bally’s Atlantic City, opened on December 29, 1979, is the third-oldest casino in Atlantic City, after Resorts and Caesars.
New Pool Policy Receives Positive Feedback
Bally’s officials have expressed satisfaction with the positive response to the new age restriction for the pool and fitness center. Many guests have reported a more enjoyable experience without the presence of disruptive children.
Michael Monty, the General Manager of Bally’s Atlantic City, shared, “After receiving many complaints, Bally’s changed its pool accessibility to guests 21 years or older, and it has been well-received.”
The casino has taken to social media platforms to promote the new policy. An Instagram post reads, “Due to customer demand, Bally’s Pool & Fitness will be available to ADULTS ONLY (21+). Kick back, relax, and take a dip!”
The news of Bally’s age restriction has been met with enthusiasm online, with many commenting that the decision makes Atlantic City a more suitable destination for younger guests. One Instagram user commented, “Go take kids to the Showboat.”
The Showboat, located nearly a mile away from Bally’s, recently opened the Island Waterpark, a $100 million indoor/outdoor complex offering various water attractions. However, the Island Waterpark is quite expensive, with day passes starting at $89 and a family of four paying over $400 after taxes and fees.
Age Restrictions in Atlantic City
In Atlantic City, all individuals under the age of 21 are prohibited from gambling and denied access to the nine casino floors. However, guests aged 18 and older are allowed to book hotel rooms, dine at restaurants, shop in retail stores, and enjoy other non-gambling attractions within the casinos. Casinos typically provide designated corridors for underage guests to move through the casino area without issue.
While Bally’s Atlantic City aims to cater to an adult clientele with its new pool policy, it is important to note that underage guests are not permitted to book hotel rooms or access the property without adult supervision.
