Formerly Twin River, Bally’s Lincoln is situated just under five miles from the Brown University campus in Providence, Rhode Island.
On Saturday afternoon, a gunman tragically opened fire in an engineering building at Brown, resulting in two fatalities and critically injuring nine others.
To address community concerns, law enforcement announced on Sunday that a person of interest was apprehended at the Hampton Inn in Coventry, located approximately 20 miles southwest of the university. However, by Sunday night, the situation changed.
“There is a murderer on the loose,” remarked Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha.
Providence Mayor Brett Smiley acknowledged the anxiety the news might induce in the community.
Bally’s Statement on Shooting Incident
Bally’s Lincoln is in close proximity to Brown University, making it a favored choice for parents visiting students.
In response to the tragedy, Bally’s Lincoln released a statement following the shooting.

In an effort to assist in the grieving process, Bally’s Lincoln offered substantial jackpots over the weekend.

Suspect Still At Large
After the release of the person of interest, the Providence Police Department has confirmed that no suspect has been identified, leaving the shooter at large.

“I’ve been around long enough to recognize that investigations can shift. That has certainly been the case in the past 24 hours,” Neronha shared, explaining that earlier leads needed further corroboration. “There was evidence pointing toward one direction, but subsequently, it has suggested a different path.
Despite a comprehensive surveillance network on campus, law enforcement has yet to release any new footage of a potential suspect.
Of the nine injured individuals, one has been discharged from the hospital, while seven remain in critical but stable condition. One patient is still critically ill.
