The era of riverboat casinos in Marquette, Iowa, is nearing its conclusion as Bally’s prepares to launch a $21 million land-based casino to replace Casino Queen Marquette. A new name for the venue has also been unveiled.

The rebranded Bally’s Marquette will assume control from the historic riverboat which has been known by several names since its debut as the Miss Marquette in December 1994.

As part of the redevelopment, the riverboat will be sold and a new casino structure will be constructed on land adjacent to the Mississippi River bridge. This area includes the former Pink Elephant Restaurant, a long-standing dining option for casino patrons.

“We take great pride in preserving the strong community ties of Casino Queen Marquette while ushering in a thrilling new chapter as Bally’s Marquette,” said Robin Corbeil, general manager of Casino Queen Marquette. “This evolution enhances the entertainment experience, making it more accessible, comfortable, and dynamic for our guests.”

Bally’s Marquette intends to offer improved dining and entertainment choices, collaborate with local food and beverage vendors, and increase guest accessibility with direct parking lot access. This venture is expected to generate 80 new jobs throughout the Marquette, McGregor, and Prairie du Chien regions.

Marquette Mayor Brittany Hemmer has expressed her backing for the transition of the casino, highlighting her eagerness to maintain a productive partnership with Bally’s Marquette.

Construction for the new facility commenced in October 2024, with an anticipated completion date set for early 2026.

Bally’s Corporation, which has recently merged with The Queen Casino and Entertainment— the current owner of the riverboat casino— operates a series of casinos and resorts across the United States. The existing riverboat casino is linked to a nearby building by a walkway over US Highway 18, connecting Iowa and Wisconsin.
