Bally’s Corporation revealed on Monday that its newly established terrestrial Bally’s Marquette casino in Iowa is set to open on Friday, March 13. This venue will take the place of the former Casino Queen Marquette riverboat after a substantial $26.2 million renovation.
The casino spans 31,280 square feet and boasts over 400 slot machines and electronic table games, along with live dealer blackjack, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, and a dedicated sportsbook.
“The official transition to Bally’s Marquette marks a significant milestone for our team, our guests, and the local community,” expressed Robin Corbeil, General Manager. “With our relocation on land now finalized, Bally’s Marquette offers a contemporary gaming experience, increased dining selections, and a friendly atmosphere that pays homage to our riverfront heritage while paving the way for future growth.”
This transformation follows the completion of private equity firm Standard General’s $4.6 billion acquisition of Bally’s Corp. in 2024, which included Casino Queen Marquette in the Bally’s brand. Standard General had earlier acquired Queen Casino & Entertainment, which operated the Marquette riverboat casino.
The new location will replace the Mississippi River-based casino, which continued its operations throughout the renovation period. Once the land-based casino opens, the riverboat will cease operations and be put up for sale.
Moreover, the property will introduce a variety of new food and beverage options. The 1994 Sports Bar, named in honor of the riverboat’s December 1994 launch, will offer pub-style fare alongside numerous televisions for sports viewing. The Sidecar Bar will serve hand-crafted cocktails in what the company describes as a “lively lounge.” Additional dining options include Riverside Grill, which offers quick, casual American cuisine, and Benchfront Coffee, featuring a range of specialty coffee drinks.
Bally’s reported that this land-based shift has led to the creation of nearly 80 new job opportunities and reinforces the company’s long-term dedication to supporting regional tourism and enhancing economic growth.
The grand opening on Friday will showcase live music, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and various forms of entertainment.
The iconic “Pinky,” a pink elephant statue that has been located near the Mississippi River for nearly two decades, will also remain part of the property. Relocated to the casino along Great River Road in 2009, it was previously situated near the now-demolished Pink Elephant Hotel & Supper Club.
In 2025, Casino Queen Marquette generated $19.9 million in gross gaming revenue, the lowest among Iowa’s 19 casinos. Conversely, Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casino topped the state with over $234.7 million in revenue. Overall, Iowa’s total casino revenue surpassed $1.67 billion last year, leaving Casino Queen Marquette with a market share of around 1.2%.
