The online casino and sportsbook brand operated by Rush Street Interactive joins fellow contenders PointsBet Canada, BetMGM, and Betty as premier entrants into Alberta, with full operations anticipated to commence in Spring or Summer 2026.

Alberta Market Launch Scheduled for Spring/Summer 2026

The Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC) authority is currently overseeing the registration process for iGaming operators, while the newly established Alberta iGaming Corporation will manage the completion of commercial agreements.

The proposed tax framework will impose a 20% rate on 97% of gross gaming revenue, allowing deductions for First Nations funding and social responsibility initiatives prior to revenue split. In comparison, Ontario maintains a uniform 20% rate on operator GGR.

Alberta residents are now able to register on the BetRivers platform for exclusive early access, updates, and special offers ahead of the market launch.

CBC Olympic Sponsorship

“Canada remains a key growth area for BetRivers, with Alberta representing an exciting opportunity,” stated Richard Schwartz, CEO of Rush Street Interactive. “With our office and significant workforce based in Toronto, we have been committed to investing and expanding our presence across Canada for years.”

This announcement coincides with BetRivers’ partnership for CBC/Radio Canada’s coverage of the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. This marks the third Olympic Games that BetRivers has collaborated with CBC, the exclusive Canadian broadcaster of these events, serving as the sole sports betting and online gaming partner for the network.

BetRivers Joins Forces with PointsBet and BetMGM

“Our momentum in Ontario since our launch in 2022 has been impressive, and our ongoing collaboration with CBC, along with our Olympic promotional activities, demonstrates our long-term commitment to Canada,” explained Schwartz.

Through the CBC/Olympics partnership, “The Game” presented by BetRivers will make a return, a complimentary trivia platform integrated into CBC’s Olympic coverage where fans can challenge their Olympic knowledge for a chance to win prizes, including a paid trip to Mexico’s Riviera.

“Our strategy is straightforward: everything should deliver entertainment value,” remarked Brian Sapp, CMO at Rush Street Interactive. “Whether in our player interactions or the way fans engage during the Olympics, we are dedicated to enhancing each experience to be more dynamic, enjoyable, and rewarding.”
