- Mets secure Bo Bichette with a lucrative three-year, $126 million deal, sources say
- Bichette’s signing follows Kyle Tucker’s move to the LA Dodgers
- Mets’ chances for the World Series improve with Bichette acquisition
The news is creating a buzz in the sports world as the New York Mets have reportedly signed Bo Bichette to a substantial three-year contract, initially reported by The Athletic.

While details are still emerging, Will Sammon has reported that the agreement is contingent on a physical examination. Renowned sports journalist Jon Heyman revealed that the contract amounts to $126 million over three years, featuring opt-out clauses after each of the first two seasons. He noted that Bichette is anticipated to transition to third base for the Mets, despite his established role as a shortstop—suggesting that financial incentive played a key role in this decision.
This transformative news follows closely after the Los Angeles Dodgers made headlines by securing outfielder Kyle Tucker—the top free agent on the market—signing him to a massive four-year, $240 million deal.
The acquisition of Bichette is pivotal for the Mets, especially after a challenging offseason that saw key players like Brandon Nimmo (traded to the Texas Rangers) and free agents Pete Alonso and Edwin Diaz sign contracts with other teams.
Shifts in World Series Odds
According to a contact at theScore Bet, the Mets’ odds to clinch the World Series have improved significantly, shifting from +1500 to +1400 following the Bichette news. Conversely, the Phillies—and Blue Jays, who were also pursuing Bichette—have seen their odds drop from +1200 to +1400. The Yankees maintain the second-best odds at +900, trailing only the +225 Dodgers.
As for the Toronto Blue Jays, their future remains uncertain, despite the narrative from corporate media like Sportsnet suggesting a robust offseason with the acquisition of four new players for a total of $337 million. The addition of either Bichette or Tucker would have been seen as a final touch to an already successful strategy, according to some analysts.
Bellinger Remains Uncontracted
Prior to the Bichette news breaking, sportsbooks had begun adjusting odds in response to the Dodgers’ signing. As reported by theScore Bet, following the announcement of Tucker’s contract, LA’s odds for the World Series champion shifted from +300 to +225. Their odds to win the National League also changed from +140 to +125.
Within the overall context of the World Series market, the Dodgers have captured the highest volume of bets (37%) and handle (36.1%). Since Thursday, they have garnered 85.9% of all bets placed for the WS Winner, as well as 91.5% of the total handle wagered on theScore Bet.
At BetMGM on Friday morning, the Dodgers’ odds shifted from +300 prior to the Tucker signing to +225; their odds for winning the National League also moved from +160 to +130, and they went from -375 to -650 favorites for the NL West.
