The Carolina Panthers made a bold move in the 2023 NFL Draft to acquire the #1 pick and select rookie quarterback Bryce Young. Young, who had a successful collegiate career with the Alabama Crimson Tide, was highly regarded as the top quarterback prospect in the draft. The Panthers were hopeful that Young would help rebuild their team and lead them to success.

However, the Panthers had a rocky start to the season, going 0-2. In their first two games, they struggled offensively and were outscored 44-27. Young, in particular, had a difficult time in his NFL debut against the Atlanta Falcons, throwing two interceptions and being sacked twice. He showed improvement in the second game against the New Orleans Saints, but still struggled with accuracy and was sacked four times.

Unfortunately, Young sustained an ankle injury during the second game and is not expected to start in Week 3 against the Seattle Seahawks. The Panthers will turn to backup quarterback Andy Dalton, who was signed in the offseason to mentor Young and provide insurance for the team.

Despite their slow start, Panthers head coach Frank Reich remains optimistic about the team’s offense. He believes they are not far away from success and looks forward to Young’s return in Week 4.

In terms of betting, the Panthers have not fared well against the point spread, going 0-1-1 this season. They are currently listed as a +6 underdog against the Seahawks in Week 3. Oddsmakers initially set the Panthers’ win total at 7.5, but it has since been adjusted to 5.5 after their two losses. The odds of the Panthers making the playoffs are slim at +700, while the Saints are the favorites to win the NFC South at +115.

Regardless of the challenges they face, the Panthers are determined to improve and are confident in Dalton’s ability to lead the team in Young’s absence.
