Week 12 of the Circa Survivor contest was full of surprises, not just limited to the game outcomes. One contestant suffered a devastating blow due to a missed entry after surviving for 11 weeks.
At the start of the week, there were only 96 entries left out of the original 14,266, with each entry valued at $150,168, as per Circa. By the end of the NFL weekend, four entries were eliminated – one due to a missed entry and three for picking the Pittsburgh Steelers, who lost to the Cleveland Browns on Thursday night.
It was a challenging week for Circa Survivor participants, with 33 choosing the Washington Commanders, making up a significant portion of the remaining entries alongside the Miami Dolphins.
The Commanders’ loss to the Dallas Cowboys was particularly heartbreaking for Circa Survivor players, as the Commanders missed a crucial extra point that cost them the game in the final moments.
Mystery Surrounding Missed Pick
Circa has not provided details about the missed pick, but the rules of the contest are clear.
Picks must be submitted by 4 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST) every Saturday or before the kickoff of the selected game (whichever is earlier),” as stated by the gaming company.
Exceptions are made for Thanksgiving Day/Black Friday games and the NFL Christmas games, if applicable.
What is certain is that the contestant who failed to make a pick this week is no longer eligible for the record $14.26 million prize pool. They may have chosen the Commanders, Steelers, or Houston Texans – all losing teams in week 12 and accounting for 45 remaining Survivor entries.
Online Reactions to Missing Pick
Online platforms are buzzing with reactions to the missed pick, with critics suggesting harsh consequences for the contestant who missed their selection so late in the season.
There are speculations that the contestant may have used a proxy service. These firms are hired by bettors from outside Nevada to participate in football contests offered by Las Vegas sportsbooks. While Circa Sports operates in multiple states, picks for Survivor and Circa Millions contests can only be made within Nevada, leading many to hire proxies.
As of now, it remains uncertain whether the missed entry was due to contestant error or a proxy service mishap. However, the prevailing belief is that it was likely the former, as most proxy firms would make picks on behalf of clients nearing the deadline without selected picks.
