After two weeks of NFL action, the Circa Survivor pool has seen a significant reduction in participants. In response, the company is offering a special empathy package, including complimentary stays at Circa Resort & Casino in downtown Las Vegas.

Due to surprising results involving popular teams in the first two weeks, the pool, which started with a record 14,266 entries, has now been reduced to 3,877 participants — an unprecedented drop in such a short time, as reported by Circa Sports. In this pool, participants select one NFL team each week to win outright, without considering the point spread, but they can only choose each team once during the season.

Although those eliminated are no longer eligible for the $14.26 million prize pool, Circa is offering some consolation.

Participants with one or two entries can enjoy a two-night stay at Circa Resort & Casino and a complimentary daybed at the Stadium Swim pool amphitheater,” according to a statement from the company. “Those with three or more eliminations in the first two rounds can avail a three-night stay at Circa and a free daybed at Stadium Swim.”

These offers are valid between November 3 and December 26 and each participant is limited to five entries at $1,000 each.

Reasons for the Swift Reduction in the Circa Survivor Pool

This is not the first time Circa Sports has provided an empathy package to console eliminated survivor players. The company used a similar strategy in 2022 with positive results.

The reasons behind the rapid reduction in the pool are clear. In the first week, the Cincinnati Bengals’ loss to the New England Patriots eliminated a significant number of participants, accounting for 34.3% of the entries lost that week.

The trend continued in Week 2, with another 26.5% of entries eliminated when the Baltimore Ravens lost at home to the Las Vegas Raiders. Additionally, nearly 10% of contestants were ousted after the Detroit Lions’ defeat by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Another 8.1% were eliminated for choosing the Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, or Indianapolis Colts.

The final blow came from “Monday Night Football,” where the Atlanta Falcons shocked 785 Circa Survivor participants who had chosen the Philadelphia Eagles.

Record Attrition Rate in Circa Survivor Pool

Just two weeks into the 2024 NFL season, only 27.2% of Circa Survivor entries remain, marking a significantly lower retention rate than in previous years. In 2022, only 32.8% of contestants made it to the third week.

The pool is scheduled for 20 weeks, including NFL games on Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve, but it ends when there is just one participant left. At the current pace, that milestone could be reached sooner rather than later.
