The male revue Chippendales dancers, known for their world-famous show, are claiming mistreatment by their employer.
The dancers recently filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), alleging union-busting tactics and retaliation by Chippendales Entertainment, LLC.
In October, Chippendales dancers joined the Actors’ Equity Association and filed a complaint with NLRB, accusing the company of preventing them from organizing and retaliating against supportive employees.
Actors’ Equity Association president Brooke Shields described the situation as illegal and shameful, emphasizing the talents of the Chippendales dancers.
The union is requesting NLRB to reinstate discharged dancers and recognize the union as their bargaining representative.
Chippendales is moving to the Mat Franco Theater at The Linq on Jan. 14, after a long residency at Rio Hotel & Casino. The show will have eight performances a week.
The Actors’ Equity Association represents over 51K actors and stage managers and is urging the company to acknowledge the dancers’ union decision.
The union accuses Chippendales Entertainment of illegal union-busting tactics and retaliation against the dancers.
In addition to the Las Vegas residency, Chippendales embarks on an annual tour starting in March through November.
