Crowds Gather at Treasure Island in Vegas for $200 in Free Play

This week, Treasure Island introduced a groundbreaking Black Friday event tailored for gamblers. The casino informed its player database about an exciting promotion featuring $200 in complimentary slot play, which caused a rush to claim the offer.

The promotion, which is valid from Monday through Wednesday until September 7, 2026, was announced through emails, app alerts, and physical mailers. It didn’t take long for it to become a trending topic on social media.

Journey to Redemption

On Monday, lines for redeeming the offer stretched across various sections of the casino floor, moving slowly due to a mix of limited kiosk availability and overwhelming interest. Some patrons reported waits of up to six hours, with many leaving without claiming the promotion due to the long lines.

This promotion is particularly appealing because typical free play bonuses on the Strip usually range from $20 to $75, and it is available to both new and existing loyalty club members. Many in line were also there to sign up for TI Rewards cards.

To qualify for the offer, players must wager the full $200 in a single gaming session. With an average return-to-player rate of 92% on the Strip, players can expect to retrieve around $184—unless they continue playing, which is likely the goal of Treasure Island after such a lengthy wait.

A Limited-Time Offer?

Though Treasure Island states that the promotion will run until September 7, numerous industry experts are advising gamblers to seize the opportunity while it’s still available.

“I anticipate that by the end of this week, it will be discontinued,” remarked co-host Shawn Coomer on the recent Miles to Memories Vegas podcast. “It’s an excessive amount of money, and the lines are out the door.”

Coomer added: “There are many past promotions that had marketing budgets unexpectedly blown, and such offers often end prematurely. Just like Tuscany a couple of years ago, word spreads quickly, and everybody shares it with their friends.”

Treasure Island has yet to publicly address the overwhelming response to its promotion or disclose the number of redemptions or new loyalty club registrations.

Nonetheless, if the casino’s goal was to reignite discussions about Treasure Island in Las Vegas, they have undoubtedly succeeded.
