An additional medical opinion will provide clarity on Achane’s injury, potentially leading to a decision on whether he will be placed on the injured list for four weeks by the Dolphins.

Despite Achane’s absence, the Miami Dolphins boast a star-studded roster, minimizing the impact of his injury on their high-scoring offense.

With an average of 36.2 points per game, the Dolphins currently top the league in scoring. They have also set an NFL record for the most yards gained in the first five games of a season, surpassing the 2000 St. Louis Rams’ legendary “Greatest Show on Turf.”

Surprisingly, the Dolphins lead the NFL both in passing and rushing, averaging 327.8 passing yards and 185.8 rushing yards per game. This season, they have surpassed the Philadelphia Eagles as the league’s top rushing team by a margin of nearly 22 yards per game.

Veteran running back Jeff Wilson may be activated to replace Achane in the lineup, but Raheem Mostert is expected to take on the majority of the workload going forward.

Achane Nearing Cheetah-like Speed

De’Von Achane has established himself as one of the fastest players in the league, coming second only to Tyreek “Cheetah” Hill in terms of top speeds reached this season.

According to NextGenStats, the Dolphins have accounted for six out of the seven fastest play speeds this season, with Hill and Achane each achieving three. Hill currently holds the title for the fastest ball carrier, reaching a top speed of 22.01 mph, while Achane closely follows with a maximum speed of 21.76 mph.

“If De’Von gets the ball, you know it’s going to be a big play more often than not,” said quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Achane, a third-round pick out of Texas A&M, made an explosive entrance into the NFL. In Week 3, he scored four touchdowns against the Denver Broncos in a 70-20 victory. Since then, he has continued to impress, reaching three consecutive games with over 100 rushing yards and maintaining an impressive average of 12.1 yards per carry this season.

Despite his injury, the Dolphins remain a popular choice among bettors. Their performance, coupled with the confidence in quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s health, has led to favorable odds on both individual games and their Super Bowl prospects.

Currently leading the AFC East with a 4-1 record, the Dolphins are considered strong contenders in the conference.

As the Dolphins prepare to face the winless Carolina Panthers in Week 6, they are favored by -13.5 points, and early betting trends suggest support for the Panthers.

In terms of betting performance, the Dolphins are currently tied with the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions for the best record against the spread (ATS) this season, boasting a 4-1 ATS record.

On the other hand, the Panthers hold one of the worst ATS records at 0-4-1, along with the Denver Broncos.
