Per the Las Vegas Metro Police, correctional officers found an inmate “lying still within a cell” at the Clark County Detention Center while executing a routine check at approximately 11:20 p.m. on December 26.

Upon examination, it was revealed that the inmate, who shared a cell with Ollinger, had visible blunt force injuries. Despite attempts to provide medical assistance, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities state that Ollinger, aged 41, was involved in a physical confrontation with his cellmate and has subsequently been booked for open murder.

Reality’s Harsh Turn

Chad Ollinger has been a consistent presence on “Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch,” which premiered in January 2021 and completed its fifth season in August. The series chronicles his and his father Duane’s quest to unearth what they believe to be hidden treasures and ancient relics beneath their extensive 160-acre property in Utah’s Uintah Basin.

The reality star has a notable history of arrests throughout 2024 and 2025. As reported by TMZ, Ollinger was detained in November 2024 for allegedly disregarding a traffic signal on his motorcycle in front of an unmarked police vehicle and attempting to escape. Authorities claim he abandoned his black Harley-Davidson and attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended and charged with evasion of arrest.

After posting bond, Ollinger’s legal troubles persisted. In February 2025, he was reportedly arrested near Pampa, Texas, for operating a vehicle with an invalid license following previous offenses, as well as for exceeding the speed limit by more than 10%. He was taken into custody at Gray County Jail.

On October 27, 2025, Ollinger was incarcerated once more — this time as a fugitive from another state, wanted for an alleged contempt of court issue. It was during this period of incarceration that his cellmate was found deceased.
