Cosmopolitan Las Vegas, one of the most renowned resorts on the Las Vegas Strip, has decided to eliminate free self-parking for casino guests and introduce parking fees for overnight visitors, starting next month.
This decision comes after MGM Resorts acquired the operating rights of the Cosmopolitan in 2022. Initially pledging to maintain the resort’s amenities, MGM is now backtracking with the introduction of parking charges.
As of September 20th, the Cosmopolitan will no longer offer complimentary self-parking for overnight guests. Only registered hotel guests who are members of the “Identity” rewards program at the Sterling level or above will continue to enjoy free self-parking.
Sadly, free self-parking on the Las Vegas Strip is becoming a rarity. Other casinos, like The Venetian, Palazzo, Tropicana, Treasure Island, Casino Royale, Sahara, and Wynn/Encore, have already removed this amenity, adding to the growing costs of visiting Sin City.
Increase in Costs
In addition to parking charges, resort fees in Las Vegas continue to rise, significantly increasing the overall cost of an overnight stay. Guests staying at the Cosmopolitan can expect to pay a nightly rate of $290, which increases to $805.64 when including the resort fee and parking charge.
Changes to Valet Parking
A decade ago, both self-parking and valet service were complimentary for visitors of all spending levels. However, valet parking costs at the Cosmopolitan have increased to $35 on weekdays and $40 on weekends. Gold-level Identity members can still enjoy free valet parking.
To achieve Gold status, patrons must accumulate at least 20,000 tier points. Gamblers earn Identity points for their wagers on slots and video poker, as well as for hotel, spa, dining, and shopping charges.
