Xfinity Live! in Philadelphia’s Stadium District is gearing up for its first significant expansion since opening in 2012.
Situated in the heart of the Philadelphia sports complex, surrounded by major sports venues, Xfinity Live! is a collaboration between Comcast and The Cordish Companies.
Comcast, headquartered in Philadelphia, is known for its cable, internet, telephone, and wireless services under the Xfinity brand.
Baltimore-based Cordish is a major player in the casino and hospitality industry. In addition to its casinos in Maryland and Pennsylvania, Cordish operates Live!-branded entertainment districts nationwide.
In Pennsylvania, Cordish also runs Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, located near Xfinity Live!
$15M Expansion
Recently, Comcast and Cordish announced a $15 million expansion of Xfinity Live! and its surrounding community plaza.
The project includes the creation of a two-story building featuring an “upscale rooftop oasis” named AVA, an open-air beer garden, a larger PBR Cowboy Bar, upgraded event space, a rotating selection of local food trucks, top-notch audiovisual technology for sports viewing, and community art installations.
Blake Cordish, from The Cordish Companies, stated, “We are proud to continue investing in South Philadelphia to create an unparalleled experience for guests and fans. This investment reflects our commitment to building a space for festivals, sports viewing, and community events like no other.”
Cordish emphasized that the $15 million initiative will solidify Xfinity Live! as the center of the Stadium District for years to come.
Live! Casino
Cordish invested $700 million to develop and launch Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, which opened in early 2021.
This Philadelphia location is Cordish’s second casino in Pennsylvania, following Live! Casino Pittsburgh, which debuted in November 2020.
Live! Pittsburgh, a “mini-casino,” offers 750 slots, 40 table games, and a FanDuel Sportsbook within the Westmoreland Mall. The property occupies the former Bon-Ton department store.
In comparison, Live! Philadelphia boasts over 2,000 slots, 140 tables, a poker room, and a FanDuel Sportsbook. In 2023, the casino earned $136.9 million from slot revenue, ranking eighth among Pennsylvania casinos.
Live! Philadelphia is particularly busy during weekends and major sporting events, attracting significant table game revenue. Last year, Live! Philly generated over $108.4 million from table games, ranking third in the state.
Together with Live! Pittsburgh and sports betting revenue, Cordish reported total 2023 gaming revenue in Pennsylvania of around $368.7 million, including $40 million from iGaming.
However, a portion of Cordish’s sports betting and iGaming revenue is shared with its online partner, FanDuel.
