Las Vegas Boulevard Shooting: Investigation Continues

A tragic shooting occurred on Las Vegas Boulevard, and the police are still conducting an investigation. The victim unfortunately succumbed to their injuries.

The incident took place at approximately 11:35 p.m. near the intersection with Oakey Boulevard.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital but tragically did not survive.

The shooting originated from a dispute involving at least one other individual.

An autopsy is likely to be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s (LVMPD) Homicide Section has taken over the case, indicating that it is being treated as a homicide.

Over the weekend, detectives were actively searching for physical evidence, witnesses, and potential surveillance video footage.

As of Monday, there have been no reported arrests in connection with the shooting. The suspect or suspects may face charges of murder and a lengthy prison sentence if convicted.

The shooting incident occurred at 1507 Las Vegas Boulevard South, the location of Boston Pizza Vegas. It is unclear whether the victim or the assailants were inside the establishment or outside on the sidewalk at the time of the incident.

Treasure Island Bartender Arrested for Theft

A longtime bartender at Treasure Island Las Vegas has been arrested for allegedly stealing over $8,000 from cash registers at the casino.

Melese Shiferaw was apprehended by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) on September 22.

Shiferaw has been charged with conspiracy to commit theft and embezzlement of over $5,000 but less than $25,000, according to local news station KVVU.

Shiferaw is scheduled to appear in court on October 30. He has admitted to improperly taking money from the registers over the course of at least a year, as revealed by the police.

During an 11-day surveillance period, casino security guards observed numerous “void” and “no sale” transactions made by Shiferaw at the register.

Shiferaw also created a report to cover up his improper sales at the end of each shift, and he allegedly stashed the remaining money under a bank bag on at least one occasion.

Altogether, he allegedly stole $8,068 over the span of 11 days.

“To be honest, I messed up,” Shiferaw confessed to the police officers upon his arrest. He also admitted to occasionally making mistakes with transactions and unintentionally taking money home with him.

Furthermore, he acknowledged taking the stolen cash back to his residence. However, upon realizing his actions, he returned the money during his next shift at the bar. He also expressed his intention to repay the casino for any improperly taken funds, as stated to the police officers.

Treasure Island has a policy for bartenders in which a $20 discrepancy results in a written warning. If the discrepancy reaches $100 or more, an investigation may be conducted, and the employee could be terminated, according to KVVU’s report.

Shiferaw has been employed at Treasure Island since 2001 and has served as a bartender for the past 10 years. It is currently unknown whether he is still working at the bar following his arrest.
