A driver stopped by a Las Vegas police officer last week was also taken into custody for the prior theft of expensive watches and other valuable items from two hotel guests at The Signature at MGM Grand.

Cassandra Tovar, 31, was pulled over by a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) officer last Friday for driving a vehicle on the Las Vegas Strip without a license plate. She seemed to be under the influence, as per the police.

However, when the officer checked her name in the system, it was discovered that she had an outstanding warrant for her involvement in allegedly stealing $200K worth of items from two men staying at the upscale hotel after three women reportedly drugged them.

The theft occurred on April 23, 2023. That evening, Tovar and the other women met two men at a hotel bar before going to a hotel room.

Once inside, one of the women offered one of the men sex for $1K “each.” Although one man refused to pay for sex, neither asked the women to leave.

“They continued to chat outside on the balcony and [one woman] handed him a drink in a shot glass. They encouraged [the victim] to consume it,” as stated in a police report quoted by Las Vegas TV station KLAS.

After [he] drank it, … he passed [out] and did not remember anything else.”

Several hours later, the men woke up and found the three women and their expensive watches, diamond bracelets, and upscale clothes missing.

Men Drugged

The men informed the LVMPD, and officers arrived at the hotel to conduct a lab test which revealed that the suspicious drink contained “various controlled substances,” according to the report.

No information on the specific harmful ingredients in the drink was provided.

The officers reviewed hotel surveillance footage which showed a car owned by one of the three suspects.

Subsequently, the suspect was located and confessed to stealing the items and socializing with the two men, according to the LVMPD.

A search at her home uncovered luxury watches, diamond bracelets, and clothes taken from the hotel room, as stated by the police.

This suspect was arrested, with her name not yet disclosed.

Officers were able to identify Tovar as a second suspect but were unable to locate her until the traffic stop on September 6.

Remains in Jail

Following her apprehension, Tovar was booked at the Clark County Detention Center and remains in custody a week later. Her bail was set at $20K.

She recently appeared before Las Vegas Justice Court Judge Daniel Westmeyer, who scheduled a court hearing for her in November.

Her charges related to the theft and traffic stop are not currently known, and it’s uncertain what charges are pending against the other two women.
