The Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, experienced a major five-alarm fire on the night of Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
The initial fire started in the kitchen of the David Burke Prime Steakhouse, situated within the Grand Pequot Tower. Firefighters reported that the blaze spread quickly, prompting the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation Fire Department to call for additional support.
This upscale dining venue is renowned for its unique method of aging beef, utilizing a room lined with Himalayan salt blocks, along with a rich assortment of cocktails and wines. It occupies the lower restaurant floor beneath the Grand Pequot Casino.
The steakhouse is located near other attractions, including the Canopy Players Lounge, Grace by Nia restaurant, and the High Rollers Luxury Lanes & Sports Lounge.
Foxwoods Fire Emergency Response
Firefighters effectively controlled the fire at Prime but not before a five-alarm response was activated. Such high-level responses are typically reserved for significant fires in major structures, necessitating extensive resources and collaboration among fire departments.
Firefighters confirmed the blaze was fully extinguished after several hours of dedicated effort.
The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation’s Fire Department announced via social media late Tuesday night that the situation at the Grand Pequot Tower was secure. They indicated that the affected areas, particularly the steakhouse, had been cordoned off from guests.
Officials from Foxwoods also reassured the public that other areas within the Grand Pequot Tower had resumed normal operations and were safe for access.
The incident resulted in three firefighters requiring hospitalization, although tribal officials clarified that they were admitted for precautionary evaluations and were discharged the following morning.
Fire departments from Taftville in Norwich and Gales Ferry Volunteer Fire Co. in Ledyard provided crucial assistance during the emergency.

The five-alarm alert was necessary due to the scale of the building involved.
Foxwoods stands as one of the largest casino resorts in the United States, managed by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. The complex features five casinos with over 3,200 slot machines and 174 table games, complemented by four hotels offering a total of 2,200 guest rooms.
Law Enforcement Presence at Foxwoods
This fall has seen heightened activity at Foxwoods Resort Casino. Recently, Casino.org reported on a situation within the Fox Tower that prompted a significant police response.
Initial information indicated that an armed individual was holding at least one woman hostage on the 16th floor. However, Foxwoods representatives clarified that the man released the woman shortly after police arrived, leading to a standoff.
Eventually, the suspect, identified as 40-year-old David Griswold, surrendered peacefully. Authorities disclosed that Griswold claimed he was under the influence of crack cocaine and heroin during the incident.
