The remaining hotel tower of the long-closed Trump Plaza, located at 2201 Boardwalk, along with the rear garage that provides 2,658 parking spaces, is now available for purchase. Additionally, the vacant lot adjacent to Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall, where the original 39-story Trump Plaza stood until its demolition in February 2021, is included in this listing.

The seller of the unused hotel and garage, totaling 10.7 acres, is IEP AC Plaza, LLC, a branch of Icahn Enterprises. The listing is managed by commercial real estate firm Avison Young, and notably, no asking price is provided.

Previously marketed in 2023 by Binswanger, the Boardwalk location features 1.87 million square feet and is designated for "resort commercial" use.

The part of the property facing the Boardwalk previously housed the Rainforest Café and Nathan’s Famous restaurants. The buildings that once held these establishments are likely to be demolished due to severe deterioration and possible condemnation.

Demise of Trump Plaza

In 2016, billionaire investor Carl Icahn acquired Trump Plaza as part of his purchase of Trump Entertainment Resorts (TER). The casino has been closed since September 2014.

Trump managed TER for 13 years, during which he reportedly lost approximately $1.1 billion operating his Atlantic City casinos. A private equity firm ultimately took control amid bankruptcy proceedings, allowing Trump to part ways with the New Jersey seaside city while permitting the casinos to keep using his name for a branding fee.

In August 2014, Trump unsuccessfully sought to have his name removed from the Trump Taj Mahal, currently known as Hard Rock. During their peak, Trump’s Atlantic City casinos were regarded as lavish destinations.

Since Mr. Trump left Atlantic City years ago, the licensed management has neglected the casino properties, allowing them to deteriorate significantly and failing to uphold the quality and luxury standards required under the licensing agreement,” Trump's 2014 lawsuit claimed. "The Trump brand has come to represent unmatched quality, luxury, prominence, and success."

Trump Plaza, which opened in May 1984 at nearly $1 billion, turned out to be a significant miscalculation. Despite offering high-roller suites, the casino struggled against competitors. The subsequent opening of the Taj Mahal in 1990 exacerbated the issues at Trump Plaza.

Connection to Epstein

Jack O'Donnell, a Trump critic and former president and COO of Trump Plaza until April 1990, stated in a CNN interview that he witnessed the future president socializing with Jeffrey Epstein multiple times in Atlantic City.

They frequently visited Atlantic City together for special events,” O'Donnell recalled. “In my view, [Epstein] was his closest friend.”

O'Donnell recounted an event where a woman, not old enough to gamble, was present with Trump and Epstein on the casino floor; though she was of legal age to be there, she was under 21.

Trump has refuted O'Donnell's allegations, referring to him as a “f***ing loser.”

“I brought him in to help me, but it seems he lacked the necessary knowledge,” Trump commented about O'Donnell.
