Recently, billionaire Steve Wynn resumed posting on Instagram after a five-year break. The Las Vegas mogul has since actively shared intriguing anecdotes from his storied career and insights into life after retirement.
On Saturday, Wynn shared an update about his life at 83, indicating that his friends still encourage him to consider a “final encore” by constructing another resort.
“People are telling me, ‘Steve, why not build another hotel and do something more?’ To which I respond, ‘Just give me a break. I’m 83! I ride my bike 20 miles daily and hit the gym to stay fit. Remember, you have to outpace your rivals,’” Wynn shares in his video.
Wynn further adds that his friends inquired about what he views as his greatest accomplishment during retirement.
“As far as lifetime goals go, I’m nearly adept at using the iPhone 12. My prime retirement achievement is that I now fit into a 29-inch waist in Levi’s,” Wynn joked with a laugh.

Wynn’s Nevada Exclusion
Even if Steve Wynne desired to establish another casino resort, regulations prevent him from doing so in Las Vegas.
In July 2023, Wynn reached a settlement with the Nevada Gaming Commission, concluding a lengthy legal ordeal related to sexual misconduct allegations from over five years prior. As part of the deal, Wynn consented to pay a $10 million fine and abstain from any business activities in Nevada’s gaming sector.
“The respondent concurs and confirms that he will remain entirely excluded from any direct or indirect involvement, association, financing, consultation, promotional activity in any form of media, or licensing arrangement within Nevada’s gaming industry,” the settlement stipulates.
Nevertheless, Wynn may hold up to a 5% stake in a publicly traded corporation licensed in Nevada for gaming operations.
Encore Boston: Wynn’s Final Project
The abrupt end of Wynn’s career in the gaming sector culminated with the establishment of Encore Boston Harbor. This integrated resort casino, located in Everett, just across the Mystic River from Boston, debuted in June 2019.
Originally, Encore Boston Harbor was slated to be named Wynn Boston. However, Massachusetts state officials mandated that Wynn Resorts remove his name from the venue following his resignation in January 2018 amid numerous allegations.
Wynn has consistently claimed innocence, asserting that he never behaved inappropriately with female staff. He argues that the charges were motivated by his ex-wife, Elaine Wynn, who passed away last year at the age of 82.
Casino establishments in Las Vegas that bear Wynn’s influence include The Mirage, Treasure Island, and Bellagio. Additionally, he played a key role in the construction of the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City and the Beau Rivage in Mississippi.
In China, Wynn conceptualized and launched Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace on the Cotai Strip.
