The gaming and betting industry will converge in Puerto Rico once again for GAT Expo Puerto Rico 2026. The second edition of the event will take place on September 9 at The Condado Plaza Hotel in San Juan, as confirmed by organizer GAT Events.
After a successful debut in 2025, this commercial showcase will bring together authorities, operators, manufacturers, suppliers, and national and international executives. The event will feature regulatory updates, product demonstrations, solution showcases, and networking opportunities.
The Puerto Rico Gaming Commission will play a key role in supporting this event. It aims to facilitate dialogue between regulators overseeing the various gaming segments in the U.S. territory and suppliers and operators looking to invest in or strengthen their presence in the burgeoning Puerto Rican market.
A full day of education, exhibition, and networking
The commercial exhibition will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., providing operators and industry professionals the opportunity to explore the latest technologies, products, services, and solutions across different segments.
Specialized conferences and panel discussions will commence at 11:00 a.m., featuring representatives from the Puerto Rico regulator, senior staff, industry experts, and professionals addressing current issues affecting the Puerto Rican and regional markets.
The event will conclude at 7:00 p.m. with a closing cocktail and networking session held at the same hotel venue.
José Aníbal Aguirre, CEO of GAT Events, expressed confidence in the regulator’s work and the positive impact it has had on all gaming segments in Puerto Rico. “This year, we have condensed the activities into a single day to provide a cohesive and productive experience for all participants,” he said. “We are grateful to the companies, authorities, and gaming leaders who continue to support GAT and will join us on September 9.”
A growing and evolving market
As of July, there are 21 licensed casinos operating on the island, with three new venues projected to open in Ponce, Mayagüez, and Carolina between 2028 and 2029. This expansion reflects the industry’s growth and new investments being made. Gran Casino Viejo San Juan opened its doors in 2026 as Puerto Rico’s 21st licensed casino following an $11 million investment.
The gaming industry continues to contribute around $200 million to Puerto Rico’s economy. Additionally, nine licensed operators are currently active in sports betting, four of which also operate casinos. During the latest fiscal year (2024-2025), the sector reported $313.16 million in gaming volume, nearly double the previous period.
Regulation of route gaming machines has generated close to $30 million in revenue, distributed to various destinations including the General Fund, municipalities, and the Police Retirement Trust, among others.
