The data highlights the continuing strong interest of sports bettors in the NFL, with Week 1 revealing shifts in the economics of football betting, as reported by Legal Sports Report (LSR).

GeoComply, headquartered in Vancouver, offers anti-fraud and geolocation compliance technology to sportsbooks globally.

NFL Betting Activity surges

Week 1 appeared to be quite favorable for bettors, with NFL teams totaling 791 points, tying the record from 2012 for the most points in an opening week. It also set records for total touchdowns (93), offensive touchdowns (90), and rushing touchdowns (37).

With favorites going 12-4 and overs at 9-6-1, it was a notable week for bettors.

Offenses Deliver Record Week

At Caesars Sportsbook, seven of the eight early afternoon favorites won outright, with multiple games surpassing the total points by halftime. Bettors experienced favorable results until the Los Angeles Chargers’ upset loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

The rise of same-game parlays and player props challenges the traditional outcome indicators, as reported by LSR.

Bettors Get Early Breaks

Circa Survivor had over 25,000 entries going into Week 1, but many were eliminated when the Cardinals upset the favored Chargers. This resulted in the elimination of numerous parlays.

Bettors are looking forward to another high-scoring weekend, with Overs dominating BetMGM’s most-bet Week 2 totals, including Vikings-Bears Over 48, Saints-Ravens Over 46, and Panthers-Falcons Over 44.
