The preparations for the upcoming Las Vegas Grand Prix will kick off during the week of September 8, marking the beginning of an 11-week project. This initiative focuses on the installation of track lighting, barriers, and temporary bridges along the 3.8-mile Strip circuit, as indicated by the organizers.

Construction is primarily scheduled for overnight hours, ensuring no public street work takes place over the weekends. The Formula One race weekend is planned for November 20-22.

To enhance traffic management in and around the Strip, organizers have adjusted the schedule compared to previous years. The track will traverse through Las Vegas Boulevard, Koval Lane, as well as Harmon and Sands avenues, with additional construction on Flamingo Road, Audrie Street, Winnick Avenue, and Rochelle Avenue.

This year’s timeline for the installation of track barriers has been shortened by two weeks. On Las Vegas Boulevard, the barriers between Sands and Harmon avenues will be installed only 12 days before the event.

The installation duration for the two-lane vehicular bridge on Flamingo Road has been halved to five days, down from last year’s 10 days and the planned seven days for 2024. The construction of the pedestrian bridge on the northern side of Flamingo will take place concurrently, minimizing the need for an additional closure of the Koval Lane–Flamingo Road intersection.

The dismantling of the circuit is expected to be completed before Christmas, as stated by the organizers.

Race activities will commence earlier than in past years, which will impact traffic and road closure schedules. Roads in the vicinity will be closed daily starting at 1 p.m. from November 20-22.

Practice sessions are set for 4:30 p.m. on November 20 and 21, with qualifying taking place at 8 p.m. on November 21. The main race is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. on November 22.

The construction strategy was developed based on input from local residents, businesses, and workers, aiming to minimize disruptions during setup and takedown phases. Additionally, modifications will be made to existing pedestrian bridges along Las Vegas Boulevard and neighboring roads to facilitate event operations.

Organizers emphasized that the revised timelines are crafted to ensure accessibility along the Strip throughout the majority of the construction phase, while keeping the circuit on track for completion ahead of the race weekend.
