Don Leon, a trap music artist from Greece, has been arrested along with two others in connection with a string of ATM robberies. The trio is facing a long list of charges, including allegations of money laundering through local casinos.
The Greek City Times reports that the accused are indicted for orchestrating 10 explosive attacks targeting ATMs, which resulted in an estimated theft of approximately €710,000 (about $769,000). The police discovered explosives, an M16 rifle, handguns, and substantial amounts of cash when they raided a property near Athens.
These crooks reportedly didn’t shy away from flaunting their wealth, both in person and online, and attempted to conceal their illicit profits by lavishly spending the money in the music and gambling industries.
An Arsenal Fit For an Army
The Hellenic Police confiscated explosives, an M16 rifle, handguns, pyrotechnic devices, cables, burglary tools, vehicles, mobile phones, and €206,570 (US$223,694) in cash during the raid. In addition, law enforcement arrested a family member of one of the suspects for violating weapon laws.
Repeat Offender
Nikiforos Bouklis, also known as Don Leon, is an established music artist in Greece with a penchant for bending genres. The 28-year-old musician had previously faced similar legal trouble in 2021 and only gained his freedom at the beginning of this year. He justified his actions publicly by saying the banks’ insurance would cover the stolen money and the vehicle owners’ insurance would cover the stolen cars. However, there’s no insurance for attempted murder, another charge Leon may face if investigators find enough evidence.
