John Heald, the brand ambassador of Carnival, recently addressed a guest’s inquiry about playing a dice game called Left, Center, Right (LCR) on the ship. The guest is booked on a Carnival Radiance voyage departing on Feb. 9 from Long Beach, CA.

LCR is a popular game for Americans aged 50 plus. Heald explained that while passengers can play LCR for fun, any involvement of real money is prohibited due to legal regulations in international waters.

According to Heald, any game involving cash is not allowed outside the designated casino on Carnival Cruise Line.

Gaming Activities Must Be Conducted In the Casino

Heald emphasized that gambling activities with money are strictly prohibited outside the designated casino areas on the Carnival ships.

He further mentioned that games like LCR can be played for fun or other rewards like Twix bars, but not for money.

LCR is a dice game based on luck and chance. Players roll dice and move their chips based on the outcome. The last player with chips wins the pot.

As previously reported by Casino.org, Carnival converted several lounges into smoke-free casino rooms in 2024. These gaming spaces are in addition to the main casino areas where smoking is allowed.

Specific Carnival ships like Jubilee, Celebration, Mardi Gras, Firenze, Venezia, Vista, Dream, Magic, and Breeze offer smoke-free casino options.

Carnival Named Top Cruise Casino Line

In the Newsweek’s 2023 Readers’ Choice Awards, Carnival Celebration was named the Best Cruise Ship Casino. Mardi Gras by Carnival ranked third in the same category.

The Celebration casino features various slot machines, table games like blackjack, craps, and roulette, as well as Carnival’s unique Fun 21. The minimum age to gamble on Carnival cruises is 18 years.

Along with a range of gaming options, Carnival casinos offer a Players Club that provides members with discounts, free cruises, exclusive events, and complimentary drinks while gambling.
