Harry and Meghan Criticized for Taking Private Jet to Las Vegas

As of November 7, 2023 at 12:32h, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made headlines for their decision to fly to Las Vegas on a private jet owned by an oil heir to see Katy Perry’s performance. The pair, both known for their strong stance on climate change action, are being labeled as “eco-hypocrites” for their choice of transportation. The move has raised eyebrows and sparked controversy among British commentators and on social media platforms.

The duo’s 40-minute flight on a Gulfstream, which emits 2 tons of carbon dioxide per hour, has stirred reactions from critics, especially considering their vocal activism on climate issues. In contrast, Prince William, Harry’s brother and future king, took a commercial flight to Singapore to collect an environmental award, showcasing a different approach to carbon footprint.

Notably, the Vegas flight in question included only nine passengers, with the likes of Harry, Meghan, actresses Gwyneth Paltrow, Zoe Saldana, and Cameron Diaz on board, among others.

The incident has drawn sharp criticism from royal biographer Angela Levin, who has called for Harry’s ousting from his charity, Travalyst, citing hypocrisy in their actions. The controversial trip has put the couple’s environmental advocacy and commitment to sustainable tourism under scrutiny.
