Erika Bruce found herself in a tragic accident on her way home late one night from Barstow, California. Another vehicle crashed into hers, causing her car to veer off the road into a ditch. She is currently in a coma in the hospital, with uncertain chances of survival. The perpetrator fled the scene, but authorities have a person of interest in custody and are expected to make an arrest soon due to incriminating evidence found at the scene.
The impact of the other vehicle left a reverse imprint of its license plate on Bruce’s vehicle: 66552N3. The state of the plate is unclear.
The van that hit Bruce’s car belonged to her employer, the charter bus company Arrow Stage Lines, known for luxury buses to Las Vegas from various US cities. Bruce was driving the van on Interstate 15 around 2 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 5 when the accident occurred near Primm, Nevada.
“She worked hard all her life,” said Bruce’s daughter, Tyana Samuel, to KLAS-TV/Las Vegas. “Bus driving was her passion, and she was never unemployed.” In a critical condition, Bruce managed to call 911 from the scene before being taken to University Hospital in Las Vegas where she is on life support, as reported by KLAS.
Samuel expressed low hopes of her mother waking up, stating, “the chances of her recovery are slim.” A search on Arrow Stage Lines’ Yelp page revealed a heartfelt review from Debbie W. of Liberty Mo. from 2024.
“We felt safe with Erika. She was professional and caring. During our trips through Zion National Park’s winding roads, she handled them with ease. Having a bus driver who cared for our safety made our journey enjoyable. Thank you, Erika.”
