Initially revealed in 2023, Hollywood Casino Columbus will debut its “state-of-the-art hotel tower” on June 12, 2026, featuring 203 accommodations comprising 183 standard rooms and 20 luxury suites.

The hotel will boast a full-service bar and restaurant named The Hill Eatery & Lounge, along with conference space, a fitness center, and an outdoor deck. Guest reservations will be available starting April 15.

“We are excited to announce the official opening date of our new hotel in Columbus, enhancing our position as the premier entertainment hub in the area,” said Jay Snowden, President and CEO of Penn Entertainment.

Hollywood Columbus features more than 1,700 slot machines, 65 live dealer gaming tables, a sportsbook, plus a selection of six dining and bar options.

Landlord Financing Options

Although operated by Penn Entertainment, Hollywood Casino Columbus is owned by Gaming and Leisure Properties, Inc. This real estate investment trust funded the $100 million hotel project within the casino.

This initiative arose from negotiations between Penn and GLPI over a master lease established in October 2022. In exchange for annual rental increases of 1.5% that will continue until 2033, GLPI committed $350 million to relocate Hollywood Casino Joliet in Illinois and to construct hotels at M Resort in Nevada and Hollywood Columbus.

“This launch marks our third retail project completed within a year, furthering the success we’ve seen from our new casino in Joliet and the second hotel tower at M Resort,” Snowden elaborated.

The introduction of the hotel will also create approximately 100 new jobs within the casino. Interested candidates are invited to participate in on-site job fairs for hotel positions on March 27 and April 10.

In addition to the hotel, Hollywood Casino Columbus intends to expand its high-limit gaming area later this year.

Market Dominance

Ohio is home to four major casinos: Hollywood Columbus, Jack Cleveland, Hard Rock Cincinnati, and Hollywood Toledo. Voters approved these casinos in a November 2009 ballot initiative. Following this, Penn secured two gaming licenses in Columbus and Toledo.

In 2025, Columbus set the pace with a gross gaming revenue of $294.7 million. Jack Cleveland followed with $257.8 million, Hard Rock Cincinnati with $243.6 million, and Hollywood Toledo with $237.7 million.

Additionally, Ohio features seven racinos where slot-like video lottery terminals (VLTs) operate. MGM Northfield Park led the racinos with a gross gaming revenue exceeding $318.5 million during the 2025 fiscal year (July 2024 through June 2025).

Penn’s Ohio racinos — Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course and Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway — collectively generated around $340.4 million.
