Legendary Las Vegas comic Shecky Greene died at his Las Vegas home on New Year’s Eve at age 97. His wife, Marie Musso Greene, revealed that the cause of death was natural. Shecky Greene, renowned for his comedy acts alongside Don Rickles and Buddy Hackett, ruled the comic scene on the Las Vegas Strip from the 1950s through the 1970s.

Death Wish

One of Greene’s drunken feats included crashing his Oldsmobile into the Caesars Palace fountains in 1968. This tale, among many others, became part of his act and added to his humor.

Humble Beginnings

Before becoming a comedy legend in Las Vegas, Shecky Greene, originally known as Fred Sheldon Greenfield, performed in small clubs around the Midwest. His journey to stardom and his prowess on stage made him a household name in Sin City.
