The Wizard of Oz display isn’t the sole tribute to the beloved classic at the Venetian, as Lorna Luft—daughter of Judy Garland, multifaceted author, actress, and singer—will present “Stories of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz and Her Mother, Judy Garland” at the Palazzo Theatre on March 14-15.

Luft, the younger daughter of Garland and producer Sid Luft—who played a crucial role in her mother’s legendary comeback in 1951—has lived through much of the chaos that accompanied her family’s life.

Juggling her childhood among the complexities of MGM, marital struggles, and the upheaval of fame, unlike her sister Liza Minnelli, who embraced the world of Broadway, Luft forged a diverse career spanning stage performances, television appearances, cabaret, and writing.

Her memoir, Me and My Shadows, published in 1998, stands as one of the most revealing narratives on Garland’s life, so much so that it was adapted into a celebrated Emmy-awarded miniseries.

Although Luft has been performing in various autobiographical formats for years, her upcoming shows at the Venetian mark her first venture into a dedicated tribute to The Wizard of Oz and its impact on her life.

Originating from Luft’s vision, this show aims to complement the Sphere’s production while providing a unique lens into Dorothy Gale’s life story through her mother’s experiences.

“My mother’s role in ‘The Wizard of Oz’ has inspired generations, including my own family,” Luft expressed. “Through sharing these tales, I honor her legacy while celebrating a film that continues to resonate globally.”

The performance will offer exclusive insights into Garland’s journey while filming the 1939 classic—detailing her demanding schedule, the manipulations of the studio, and the personal challenges that marked her time in the spotlight—along with Luft’s reflections on growing up with such an iconic yet complex figure.

Tickets will be available starting at 10 a.m. PT on Friday, February 6, via venetianlasvegas.com.
