- Kai Trump finished last after the inaugural day of her LPGA participation
- She was granted a sponsor’s exemption to compete in The Annika
- Her grandfather awarded Annika Sorenstam the Presidential Medal of Freedom in January 2021
Kai Trump marked her LPGA Tour debut this week, receiving a sponsor’s exemption to compete in The Annika.

The 18-year-old granddaughter of former President Donald Trump, Kai secured a special invitation from Annika Sorenstam, the host of the LPGA event. As the eldest child of Donald Trump Jr., she has garnered attention as a golf influencer across social media platforms.
Her notoriety surged after her participation in the 2024 Republican National Convention, which significantly boosted her presence. On platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, she shares golf-related content and has attracted over six million followers.
Sorenstam, one of the sport’s greatest female athletes, publicly granted the sponsor’s exemption to Trump last month.
“Competing with the world’s best on the LPGA Tour has been my dream, and I’m ecstatic to participate in The Annika,” Trump commented upon receiving the invitation. “This tournament will provide an amazing experience, and I look forward to engaging with many of my inspirations and mentors in the world of golf during my LPGA debut.”
Her mother is Vanessa Trump, who was previously in a relationship with Tiger Woods after her marriage to Trump Jr.
Finished at the Bottom
Expectations were modest for Kai Trump’s first round on the LPGA. Despite being a high school senior set to join the University of Miami’s golf team next fall, she drew notable betting interest before her round at The Annika commenced.
According to BetMGM, Trump secured 5.6% of the tournament bets, ranking as the third most popular among the 108-player roster. However, she accounted for only 0.2% of the total wagered money, primarily from smaller bets on her long odds. Notably, this small percentage still placed her 22nd in overall performance within the field.
After concluding her first round with a score of 83, Trump found herself in last place, trailing Benedetta Moresco, who finished day one at +9, by four strokes.
With the projected cut line around even par, Trump has effectively missed the weekend chance, meaning all bets placed on her through BetMGM remain valid.
The odds of Trump achieving the improbable and winning The Annika currently stand at +100000, translating to implied odds of 0.1%. A wager of $1 at those odds would result in a payout of $1,000 if successful.
Florida Ties and Trump Legacy
Raised in Florida, Trump attended the prestigious The Benjamin School in Palm Beach, where annual tuition for high school students is approximately $40,000.
The Annika is taking place at the Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, near Tampa, situated across the peninsula.
In January 2021, former President Trump honored Sorenstam with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, a recognition awarded just one day after the events at the Capitol on January 6. Sorenstam, alongside distinguished golfers like Gary Player, Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Charlie Sifford, and Arnold Palmer, is among the select group that has received this prestigious medal.
Trump noted that the medal symbolizes Sorenstam’s transformative impact on women’s golf.
