The Boston Celtics could be without Kristaps Porzingis for at least a week as the big man recovers from a calf injury.

Porzingis underwent an MRI on Saturday to assess the severity of his left calf strain. However, the Celtics have not yet disclosed the results.

We will re-evaluate Kristaps in a week or so,” said head coach Joe Mazzulla.

Prior to the injury, the Celtics boasted the best record in the NBA this season at 13-4 and have yet to lose a home game.

Porzingis Sustains First Injury of the Season

Porzingis sustained the injury in a game against the Orlando Magic on Friday afternoon. The Celtics are set to host the Chicago Bulls as they aim to keep their unblemished home record intact.

The Celtics side swiped the Washington Wizards in a blockbuster trade to acquire Porzingis, adding a scoring big man with strong spatial awareness to their formidable lineup.

Porzingis is the Celtics’ third-highest scorer behind Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, and with him out, the team will rely on veteran centers Al Horford and Luke Kornet to fill the void.

Futures Darling, But a Losing ATS Record

The Celtics are the favorites to win the NBA championship and are also considered strong contenders to win the upcoming In-Season Tournament.

With a 13-4 record this season, the Celtics are ahead of the competition, but their ATS record could be improved upon. They will aim to grow that margin in their next game against the struggling Bulls.
