AAA estimates that almost 80 million people in the US will be traveling over 50 miles this week to join loved ones for a festive Thanksgiving meal. Las Vegas is once again identified as a popular destination for those seeking an alternative way to celebrate the holiday.

Warm weather is a common factor among the top 10 domestic destinations. AAA’s 2024 Thanksgiving Travel Forecast highlights four Florida cities known for their beaches, theme parks, and cruise ports, along with other popular destinations like New York, California, Hawaii, and Las Vegas.

Hertz officials state that Atlanta, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Oahu, Orlando, and Phoenix are the cities with the highest demand for rental cars this week. The busiest days for car rentals are the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the Monday and Tuesday following the holiday.

Affordable Lodging Options

Despite strong demand reported by Hertz and AAA for Las Vegas, hotel rates remain budget-friendly.

For a Wednesday through Sunday stay, Aria offers rooms at $172 per night before additional fees and taxes. Resorts World is even more economical at $105.

Other rates include Fontainebleau at $225, Park MGM at $111, and Harrah’s at $65. For the most cost-conscious travelers looking to stay on the Strip, Excalibur by MGM is priced at $71 and Luxor at $74.

For those seeking a luxurious experience, The Venetian is priced at $326, Four Seasons at $307, Wynn/Encore at $268, Cosmopolitan at $260, Bellagio at $221, and Caesars Palace at $232.

With resort fees sometimes exceeding $50 per night, it is essential to complete the booking process to avoid unexpected charges for a Thanksgiving escape to Las Vegas.

AAA advises that the busiest travel times to or from Southern Nevada during the holiday will be between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Wednesday, with early travel before 10 a.m. recommended.
