A Las Vegas resident was arrested last week for allegedly threatening U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen, a Democrat from Nevada, with intentions to carry out what Hitler had initiated.
The suspect, identified as John Anthony Miller, 43, left a series of anti-Semitic rants on Senator Rosen’s voicemail, who is of Jewish descent.
Miller has been charged with threatening a federal official and appeared in federal court last Friday. His next court appearance is scheduled for November 13.
Explicit Messages
The messages contained numerous obscenities, according to federal prosecutors.
One of the messages stated, “You just awakened a monster, and we will finish what Hitler started.”
“She lets her own family members kill these Palestinians in the West Bank.”
The threatening messages also targeted Senator Rosen’s family.
The first set of messages were left between October 11 and 19.
Unsuccessful Attempt to Confront Senator Rosen
On October 18, Miller went to the federal courthouse in Las Vegas, demanding to see Senator Rosen. However, he was denied access by security personnel.
The messages coincided with the recent events in Israel involving Hamas terrorists and the Israeli military.
Senator Rosen, a prominent member of the Jewish community and an advocate against anti-Semitism, has been actively involved in combating hate crimes and prejudice.
The case was investigated by the FBI, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, U.S. Marshals Service, and U.S. Capitol Police.
In response to the incident, Senator Rosen’s office emphasized the importance of taking threats against public officials seriously and expressed confidence in the U.S. Attorney’s office and federal law enforcement to handle the matter.
Miller’s court-appointed public defender declined to comment on the case.
