The Reno-based Truckee Gaming has officially retired the Poker Palace brand and shuttered the poker room in preparation for rebranding the North Las Vegas casino.

The acquisition of Poker Palace took place in October for a total of $20 million and renovations are currently underway to reintroduce it as Club Fortune. This property is situated along Las Vegas Boulevard North adjacent to Nellis Air Force Base.

According to CEO Ferenc Szony, the revamped casino is anticipated to open its doors in mid-April without poker rooms or traditional table games.

“At launch, live poker and table games will not be available,” he informed the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “Due to staffing challenges and other preparations for opening, we’re unable to include live gaming at this time.”

Szony added that licenses for live table games have been secured, allowing for potential future implementation.

“We’ve definitely secured the license for live games,” he noted. “We’ll assess demand—if the market indicates interest, we can always add them later.”

Revamping and Brand Strategy

Opened in 1974, the Poker Palace is undergoing a comprehensive renovation spearheaded by Truckee Gaming. Upgrades will feature new slot machines, advanced gaming systems, a revamped bar, an expanded restaurant with kitchen facilities, updated restrooms, and a full interior and exterior remodel.

“This will mark a significant transformation from the old Poker Palace aesthetic to what we envision,” Szony stated. “The goal is to create a contemporary atmosphere similar to what we offer at our Club Fortune venue in Henderson.”

Truckee Gaming manages several gaming establishments in Northern Nevada, along with a separate Club Fortune site located in Henderson. The North Las Vegas casino will carry the same Club Fortune branding present at the Henderson location.

Partnerships in Sports Betting and Horse Racing

The redesigned property will feature a race and sportsbook operated by Boomer’s Sportsbook, established by Joe Asher, recognized in the Sports Betting Hall of Fame.

“Joe will incorporate not just sports betting, but also horse racing,” Szony remarked. “Horse racing has a longstanding history at this site, and our commitment to continue that tradition remains strong.”

Szony expressed that the acquisition aligns with the company’s growth objectives in the Las Vegas market.

“Having been in Henderson for some time, we were in search of suitable opportunities within the Greater Las Vegas area,” he highlighted. “North Las Vegas is increasingly gaining attention; we are excited to join this emerging market.”
